Health & Safety Training
From First Aid, CPR and AED training to swimming and lifeguarding to "Babysitting Training", American Red Cross programs help people lead safer and healthier lives. Programs and materials are developed in collaboration with leading medical authorities. Between July 2007 through June 2008 Over 4,000 individuals learned lifesaving skills through classes offered by the Henderson County Chapter.
Our chapter offers regularly scheduled courses in Adult CPR/AED, Infant/Child CPR, and First Aid. Courses such as CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Sport Safety Training, Pet First Aid, Wilderness First Aid and Babysitting are scheduled periodically. Look to our community partners, Lelia Patterson Center, the Henderson County YMCA and Patton Pool for classes in Water Safety and Lifeguarding.
In a pinch for scheduling time for a class, try our new Blended Learning classes. You take part of your class online and then a shorter skills session in the classroom with an instructor. There are special requirements to be able to access this, such as high speed internet (not dial up). If you like spending less time in the classroom and more time at home, this may be the program for you.
New Class**** CPR MADE SIMPLE The American Red Cross is pleased to announce the release of a new non-certification class that allows participants to learn the very basics of CPR in one hour. This class is being offered once a month at the Henderson County Chapter during the lunch hour on the last Friday of each month. The class includes limited practice time and a wallet card that outlines emergency steps for CPR. The class costs only $10. The first class is scheduled for Friday January 29th at noon at the Chapter Office at 203 2nd Avenue East in Hendersonville.
This course, titled CPR Made Simple, is perfect for those who do not need certification for their jobs, but are interested in having the skill for emergencies. It’s also a good practice or refresher for someone who has had CPR recently but wants more practice or review. This class does not satisfy any certification requirements and is therefore not appropriate for those needing certification for their jobs or business.
