Our 2007 Volunteers of the Year!
Our Chapter Volunteer of the Year: Rocky Holbert Rocky and his son Hunter (shown above accepting the award for his dad from Executive Director, Mike Williams) have mowed and maintained our yard for two years. The yard looks great and Mike is especially happy since he was having to cut the grass himself before Rocky volunteered. Thank you Rocky and Hunter!
Our Administrative Volunteer of the Year: Sylvia Mason Sylvia headed up our very successful migration to Quickbooks for our Chapter finances. This change has provided us more accessible financial information and saved us significant money on outside accountants!
Our Blood Services Volunteer of the Year: Priscilla Karvonen Priscilla is one of our most involved and dependable canteen volunteers as well as being a disaster volunteer along with her husband, Thomas. She has helped in recruiting and staffing blood drives and always adds an enthusiastic presence to whatever she does!
Our Disaster Services Volunteer of the Year: Ron Simpson If there is a disaster occurance anywhere in the country that requires additional personnel, you can bet that Ron will be ready to go! Ron began volunteering during Katrina and since then he has assisted with storm responses in Washington State, Texas, Massachussetts, Kansas and multiple locations in between. Ron also pulls rotation on the local Disaster Action Team.
Our Health and Safety Services Volunteer of the Year: Charlie Shook Charlie has volunteered as an unpaid instructor teaching scores of people in first aid, CPR and AED. When he's scheduled to teach he arrives at least an hour early to get everything set up just right and he doesn't leave until the classroom is cleaner than when he arrived...even the trash is emptied! We receive letters complementing his classes and he has been a key player in developing our Wilderness First Aid and Pet First Aid classes.
Thank you volunteers! You ARE the American Red Cross! |
